Project is complete!

They are Crooked, but I will be able to take upright pictures when they are actually hanging in the gallery. The deadline is tomorrow. I will post as to whether or not these made it into the Student Juried Exhibition or not. I'm also entering two other pieces I did last semester.

I'm so excited to see what will come of the show!

project update

Well, I ran into some issues with my project today. After printing out my poems and cutting the canvas board to fit them, then gluing the poems onto the boards, I compared them to my original pieces and realized that they do not match. I blurred the pictures out with photoshop and added the poems to each one. so after printing them out, because they are blurred they are not as vibrant as my original pieces which mean they are not going to work with the piece at all. I am going to just put the original pieces together and then put a verse from the poem in the description of each piece.

project process...yet another piece to the puzzle

I have completed yet another piece to the project. the secret part so I can't put pictures up until I am finished. I can however let you in on what I did...well somewhat. I uploaded my pictures to photo shop and did some tweeking to them. I will then cut out blank pieces of canvas board and paste the final product to them. the next part will be finishing the edges and then adding the string in order to hang them... GO ME!

another part yet to the process

After cutting these pieces out of the larger canvas board, I now have to make the edges straight and sand them down. then i have to paint the edges to look more appropriate. after all of that is done I have to assemble them to each other using string.

student juried art exhibition

I wanted to give you an update on what's going to happen in the next week with my project. this coming week, I will be sanding down the edges of each piece of canvas board. then painting the edges. after they are dry, i will be drilling holes into each piece so that instead of hanging them on panel they will be hanging freely on string. I will also have other parts to do but that is a suprize.

step three

This is step three...well whats left of it. I took the viewfinder to each piece and cut out what i thought looked appeasing. then with the band saw, i cut out each piece...these are the scraps...

Sorry for the glare...these are the abstract pieces. I will be using a viewfinder to break them into pieces to make a more pleasable composition...each piece right now is 14x18 inches and painted with acrylic. I used mostly my fingers and some straws...oh and a painting knife... :D. After i break them apart and paint the edges for a clean look I will be mounting them to wood panels with a background painted of white or black. remember each piece is inspired by a poem but im not going to post which ones they are from until im finished with the whole piece. I will be posting more of the progress as I go along... so far, my teacher says I'm a hidden painter lol...
